VENUE
The building is located on the University of Aveiro Campus and is intended for multidisciplinary use, including auditoriums, classrooms, and intensive-use workrooms.
With a geometric floor plan that combines a rectangle with a quarter circle, the building has a ground floor and two upper levels. It consists of a single structural body, with frame and wall structures in reinforced concrete, mostly cast in situ, except for some precast façade panels. The floors are made of reinforced concrete slabs, supported by beams and ribs of straight and circular development and, in some cases, directly resting on columns and walls, displaying a mushroom-like structural behavior.
It stands out for its curved façade, made up of double slats reminiscent of a musical staff.
The foundations are indirect, using reinforced concrete piles, in response to the geological and geotechnical conditions of the soil involved.
The building was awarded an Honorable Mention in the category of Work of Exceptional Quality 2000–2003 by the promoting entity.

How to arrive:
– by train: The main railway (North Line) has several trains stopping in Aveiro.
From the train station to UA you can catch a bus (number 11), go on foot (20 min walk) or take a taxi by the station.
– by car: If you are coming from the North on the A1 highway, take the A25 second exit to Aveiro.
If you are coming from the South on the A1, take the Aveiro-Sul/Águeda exit (15) and turn right onto the EN235 which will take you directly to the UA campus.
